What do these laws actually mean, ISPs are going to police the Internet now , police their customers , because government says they have to. And why? So NZ can get a Free Trade Agreement with the US.
Does this sound like what a free society suppose to be? Does is seem a bit of a contradiction on the one hand we are suppose to be free , yet more and more laws seem to take away our liberties day by day all for ‘our’ protection, or I suppose in this case corporate protection.
Do we as a society care about freedom anymore? Or has it become a distant dream in the back of our minds. Have we become so indifferent to our rights and individual sovereignty that we blindly follow what the people on high tell us what is good for us.
Some do , apparently 12,000 out there still care, and understand what these new laws mean and see that they are but a stepping stone. A stepping stone to take from us , our inherent freedoms and individual sovereignty.
A corporation’s primary and most important purpose is to make a profit. What does it mean when profit is second to none. This breeds unethical behavior. That said , corporations don’t like things they cannot make a profit from and/or cannot control. They are losing control and fighting to keep it. But you cannot control or profit from freedom. Therefore freedom is the enemy of profit , control and thus , the mighty corporation itself. It is fighting only in the name of it’s own existence.
